Our Story
Thank you so much for visiting, I am Jo and I am the designer and artisan baker here at HG1 Cake Couture. HG1 Cake Couture is a family business that was born out of my passion for baking and design along with a desire to create elegant wedding cakes and individual celebration cakes that taste just as amazing as they look.
It is such a privilege to be able to play a small part in special family celebrations by providing cakes that are as delicious as they are stylish each one made from finest high-quality ingredients at our Harrogate studio. We have trusted small business suppliers and also use locally sources ingredients wherever possible.
I was always very creative growing up and baked from a very young age with my mum who is my best friend and mentor. My first job at the age of 14 was in a local bakery in Ripon. Where I started to hone my baking skills. However, I also had a keen attention to detail and at 18 I left my passion behind to pursue a successful legal career. During my time as a lawyer, I still regularly baked and as the years passed the pull to return to my creative roots never subsided. Working alongside my family I brought my attention to detail that had seen me successfully through a 24-year career in law along with my passion for baking & creative flair and so HG1 Cake Couture was born.
I am ever grateful for the wonderful feedback and recommendations that I have received from my clients and it is my aim to make your experience, from your first contact with HG1 Cake Couture right through to your cake being delivered, a stress free, enjoyable and fun experience. I will handle every aspect of your wedding cake from design to liaising with your venue, your florist, your wedding planner or venue designer.
